12 Days of Anime #12: JoJo

JoJo’s bizarre adventure is incredible.

Normally when a manga is adapted, the original manga fans all complain about how the adaption is not faithful or it sucks. Maybe it is because none of the anime only watchers complained, but I have not seen any complaints about JoJo as an anime. Yeah, there are some people that don’t like JoJo (like my brother–GASP), but they are few and far in between and more importantly, everyone seems to have at least some token of respect for this anime.

That is how good this anime is.

12 Days of Anime #11: Girls und Panzer

Girls und Panzer surprised everyone. People were expecting a sequel to the much loved Upotte. What they got was a far better, more tight anime.

Girls und Panzer doesn’t rely on great characters to suck you in. If anything, the characters are kind of ordinary. Sure, some of them are cute and do cute things like falling over in cute ways and some of them say a few cute things, but that’s about it. There is nothing extraordinary about the characters, in fact, some of the characters like the student council kids are such good clones of their archetypes (archetypes that I dislike), that I can’t help but dislike them. And yet, I love the show.

I like the girl with the large boob...errr, blond hair the most. I am also impressed with the photographers use of an aperture of F5.6. It is not so small as to let no light in, but hopefully small enough to get a wide depth of field.

12 Days of Christmas #10: Hyōka

Hyouka was one of my favorite anime of 2012 and it stands in my list of all time favorites.

Out of everything that happened in Hyouka, there was one thing or rather one conversation that in my opinion summed up the entire show brilliantly. That conversation was the conversation between Satoshi and Mayaka in episode 17.

12 Days of Anime #9: Binbougami-Ga

Binbougami-Ga was one of the funniest anime that aired this year. Heck, I’d even go so far as to say it was the funniest after Nichibros.

On top of the great humor, there were also some very heart warming moments.

12 Days of Anime #8: Blogosphere adventures

I am going to apologize ahead of time because this post has almost nothing to do with anime. :( No, this post is about a few memorable moments that I had during my adventures in the blogosphere this year.

I also apologize for the very late posting. This should have been out at most 1.5 hours ago. I blame my Internet connection.

I actually wanted to publish tomorrow’s post today, but that will take more work and I spent all of today playing Civ 5. :(

Anyway, enough moping around, let’s go on a meta recall!

12 Days of Anime #7: Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita

I am starting this post a bit late. Hopefully, I can get it done in time. Okay, I couldn’t get it done in time. I am so sorry.

[Commie] Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - 05 [828BADF1].mkv_snapshot_00.58_[2012.08.04_01.35.31]

Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita is an interesting anime. Back when the trailor came out, people got super hyped for it because it looked really funny. Then the show aired. The first episode or two were well received. Then, like drunk philosophers who questions the meaning of life, people began to question the meaning of Jinrui.

What exactly was the damn thing trying to say? Was it social commentary on how humans suck and therefore we will all die? Was it about capitalism? Was it about the manga industry? Was it about imouto? Oops, wrong anime. Jinrui had no imoutos.

Anyway, while some contemplated the true meaning behind Jinrui’s wackiness, others just gave up and said the anime actually has nothing to say. Regardless of whether it actually said anything or not, Jinrui had some pretty memorable moments.

Unfortunately, I never did finish Jinrui. I watched 9 out of 12 episodes. It is not like the 9th episode was bad or anything, I just never watched the tenth…
Interestingly enough, maybe it is just me, but I don’t recall any comments on Twitter about the ending. This anime really lost its popularity at some point.

Anyway, let us go on with this post, shall we?

12 Days of Anime #6: Acchi Kocchi

Acchi Kocchi is a treasure trove of cute.

There really is no other way to describe it.

I don’t think there is any standard categorization for “cute/kawai”, but if there was, Acchi Kocchi would encompass a large set.

This show features cute girls doing cute things, but that isn’t all it features.

It also features cute boys doing cute things, but that isn’t all.

It also features cute boys and cute girls doing cute things together.

And that is where it excels the most.

12 Days of Anime #5: Random Good Luck

This post, unlike all the other 12 Day posts I have done, but like all the 12 Day posts everyone else has done focuses on only one moment, or rather a memorable episode.

If the title hadn’t given it away, this post is on Sengoku Collection episode 18: Four Leaves.

I watched the first or so episode of Sengoku Collection, but even though I didn’t mind it, I stopped watching the show. Then a while later, people on my Twitter feed were raving about episode 18 and how good it was. Given that Sengoku Collection is episodic, I figured what the heck and gave it a chance.

I was not disappointed.

12 Days of Anime #4: Tsuritama

Note: In keeping up with Toxic Muffin tradition, this post is late by almost 20 minutes and therefore published on the wrong day. We apologize for any inconvenience but we take our tradition of tardiness very seriously over here.

Tsuritama was an excellent anime. I predicted its excellence all the way back in my Spring preview and I was not disappointed. It had a quirky cast, some great character development, very creative art direction and great animation. It is such a shame that despite being incredibly well liked at the time of its airing, everyone seems to have forgotten about it now.

If you haven’t seen it, you probably should, if only for that great opening/ending.

Knowing all of that, it is such a shame that only do I lack the time for a long post (I need to pack and I am late publishing as is), but I lack the videos to take screencaps. Heck, I don’t even remember what happened anymore. Well, let us do our best to recall some excellent moments, shall we?

12 Days of Christmas #3: Fate/Zero

I have already said everything I need to say on Fate/Zero, but this anime aired in 2012, so here I am making another post on it. It is kind of funny how because of Fate/Zero’s funny airing schedule, it somehow managed to make my 12 Day post thingies twice.

Anyway, onto the post. There are two most memorable moments hidden in this post.
