So you may not remember but once upon a time, I used to do these 12 Day posts at the end of every year talking about the anime moments I enjoyed that year. Back in 2015, I failed. I wrote 5 posts then utterly failed to write anymore. I haven’t written any more since then.
So, this post is a last ditch attempt at closing that section of 2015 posts.
I haven’t bothered writing these out separately or formatting them or writing them well because I am lazy and quiet frankly just want these out. Note: A lot of this was written like in 2016 or 2017 I think.
So, Stardust Crusaders Part 2 aired this year and I loved it. If you are curious, I feel like my thoughts on Part 1 are still mostly applicable here, with the addendum: Part 2 was much more consistent.
I could probably spend a long time just talking about nearly every fight in the show, but I will try to keep it short. Note: All of these 12 Day posts implicitly have spoilers, but I am making special note here in case you are a special person who still hasn’t been spoiled on Dio’s powers. If you are, don’t read this post. Go watch the damn anime.
I am very sorry I missed every 12 day post….. I had to take care of a few things here in the real world and was also hit by a few bouts of sadness (for unknown reasons). If I had stuck to my rough chronological ordering, this post would actually be the fifth, but no matter.
For every year, for the past four years, I have written a 12 Day post on Fate. It is just how it ended up working out you know..Fate Zero aired across two years and so did F/SN UBW. If you are curious, here is my first 12 Day entry on UBW. I just wanna quickly clarify for the folk who don’t see the massive of amount of Fate tweets I make, but I am a big fan of Fate. My posts might not read like that since they contain a lot of rants on it, but I do genuinely like the franchise! I make this note just in case you grabbed a pitchfork.
Oh and as a fair warning, much like Fate, this post is a real mess! I hope you can find something good in it though! Right, so, uhh, where to begin…
To be perfectly honest, part of why I am making this post is because I don’t think anyone else will. Honestly, Log Horizon is a good anime that just happened to air at a rather bad time. I have written one 12 Day post on Log Horizon already and everything I said then, still holds true.
I have already written one 12 Day post on Garo, but the second half of Garo, which aired this year, had some amazing moments too!
Yo! If you don’t know what this 12 Days thing is about, here is the call to arms. This is the fifth time I am making these posts. My format is a little different though. I normally pick 11 anime and talk about my favorite moments in those anime. I have one post that is normally about something totally unrelated (previous posts include taste, music , blogosphere and slightly older anime). Sometimes I have a thirteenth post talking about moments I didn’t cover. I normally structure my posts like this because I don’t really make many posts throughout the year, so this gives me the chance to sort of write a few quick fire reviews for some of the year’s best anime.
Oh and my posts have no meaningful order to them, though I try to roughly follow chronological order (when the show aired). First up on this list is an anime that started in 2014 and ended this year. I am sure many of my friends consider it to be anime of the year. Yes, I am of course talking about the anime about making anime: Shirobako.
Hello, there. There was a little bit of stuff I didn’t get to put in my regular 12 Day posts, so I am going to shove them in here just because I can.
Rage of Bahamut or Shingeki no Bahamut was a very good fantasy anime. When it aired, everyone was surprised by how the adaptation of a card game could have such a great first episode. The first couple of episodes did a great job capturing everyone. The anime changed a little in the second half (to the chagrin of many). It went from being a fun adventure to a more somber save the world kind of story.
This shift appears to have upset several folk though I didn’t mind it too much since some of my favorite, individual scenes happened in the second half. More importantly, the anime as a whole featured a great cast, some nice action and all around genuine fantasy greatness.
Garo is really, really good. It had a short, slow patch, but even then I found it thoroughly enjoyable. It is still ongoing and given what I have seen of it in W15, it may very well make it to my 2015 (this post is still technically 2014!) 12 Day list as well.
