I am a little disappointed with some of the shipping this Fall 17 season

I am a bit of a boring person when it comes to ships. If the ship is cute and kind of canon, I will ship it. I don’t need a good ship to like a show, but when I say I am disappointed with the shipping this season, I mean there are at least 2 kind of canon ships I SHOULD, BUT DO NOT LIKE and this has upset me.

Best Boys and Best Girls from some of my favourite series

I bandwagonned a meme and almost no one responded. That is not really a problem, but i wanted to spam people with my good taste! So, I went ahead and made this quick post. I am just going to pick some random series I’ve given good ratings to/fondly remember and list out the best boy & best girl in them.

Fox Spirit Matchmaker is the Summer 17 show I’m most invested in

Right off the bat I’ll note that Fox Spirit Matchmaker (originally Huyao Xiao Hongniang or Enmusubi no Youko-chan on Japanese TV) isn’t necessarily an anime I’d recommend to others. It is not the content matter is questionable or anything, but that it is not exactly a high quality anime or so to speak.

In the world of Fox Spirit Matchmaker, youkai exist and sometimes these youkai fall in love with and are loved by humans. Unfortunately humans die much earlier than youkai. And upon their death, humans are reincarnated.

To keep the youkai happy, the matchmakers have the ability to restore the memories of reincarnated humans. That is to say, a human will remember their past love and they can continue their married to a youkai life. The story is very much about keeping destined lovers together forever. (Note: Both parties agree to this deal in the human’s past life.)

Some thoughts on Log Horizon after my rewatch

Recently me and my cousin watched the entirety of Log Horizon (we finished the 2nd season in like two days….). This was the second time I’ve seen this show and while I still liked it I came away a little grated at a few things, so I figured I’d jot down some thoughts.

Note: I watched it in a rush with family so I didn’t take any screenshots. I apologize for the lack of contextually useful ones. My posts on Log Horizon feel dated now, but if you are curious, you can find some here.

Note 2: This is very much a rant and I am sure a show with this much ambition doesn’t really deserve it, but I just wanted to get it off my chest.

The first few Gamers episodes surprised me and blew me away

[HorribleSubs] Gamers! - 01 [1080p]-00_06_21.798-435.jpg

[If you are not up to date with Gamers, watch the 2nd episode before reading this post. Trust me, that 2nd episode is really good and significantly better than the 1st.]

The anime season was well under way when I returned from my cross country trip. Not knowing much about any of the anime that have aired, I figured I’d do the thing I do every season and watch some. I started with Fox Spirit Matchmaker, and for all its faults, it charmed me enough that I watched all four episodes.

I wanted something light and easily digestible, so I watched Knights and Magic (my friends said it was good wish fulfillment stuff and I love those stories). I opened Tsurezure Children next. I absolutely love the manga and the anime most certainly did not disappoint.

Then I rolled myself around to Gamers. The title ‘Gamers’ sounded garbage enough that I figured it would make good fluff entertainment.

Q&A with Nobuyuki Hiyama at Anime North 2017

nobuyuki_hiyama.jpg

Picture from the AN page on him

Nobuyuki Hiyama is a well respected, long time voice acting veteran. Off the top of my head, my favorite role of his is the Director of Shirobako, but he has a ton of anime and video game roles.

I was only able to attend the Q&A session held on Sunday (May 28, 2017). I jotted down some of the questions and answers but pretty scrappily (it is hard) so forgive me for paraphrasing a lot and for any missing/incorrect info. The answers written here are also much shorter than his nice long replies. Anyway, I hope you find his responses interesting (I liked him a lot!).

Shirobako 874

I wish I had remembered this line and asked him to voice it.

I am upset that Elf Yamada is not the main girl in Eromanga Sensei

I am sure folk have plenty of things to say about Eromanga Sensei. Some folk don’t like the fanservice, others don’t like the imouto romance and so on. This post is probably closer to the latter complaint. I don’t especially mind the imouto love story per say but the fact THAT THERE IS A MUCH BETTER RELATIONSHIP AND IT IS NOT THE MAIN FOCUS IS WHAT UPSETS ME.

I am of course talking about Elf Yamada.

Winter 17 Updated Impressions

Hello, I figured I should make a blog post, so here is another talking about my current takes on stuff I’m watching this season. I have only finished a small number of shows thus far, but this is practically a final impressions post at this point.

In unrelated news, I’ve been watching Gundam 00! You can see my progress here if you are interested.
